What is the history of the Hamilton Antique Mall?

In 1919, a man by the name of George Hurst opened Hurst’s Furniture and Radio on 233 Ottawa Street North; the store closed in 1956. Afterwards, a furniture store called “Adams Furniture” took over the building. In the early 2000s, a successful businessman named Tom changed it to a wallpaper store, called “A Big Big Wallpaper Store”. In the wallpaper store, you could find vintage and Victorian prints. The basement had older rolls and the newer patterns were on the main floor. This wallpaper store closed for good when Tom retired in 2017. The owners of the building then took this opportunity to turn it into a four-level antique mall.

Hamilton Antique Mall is located in the core of the Ottawa Street shopping area with 34.000 sq. ft of booths from various antique vendors. Our mall is currently the largest antique mall in Hamilton. We have a variety of antiques, turn-of-the-century to mid-century, rugs, vintage clothing and shoes, chandeliers, old salvaged wood, industrial metal signs and lighting etc. Whether you want to find some unique furnishings, or just browsing for some interesting collections for your homes, the Hamilton Antique Mall has it all!
